VICTORY: FRANCE KEEPS TWO OLD LADIES ELEPHANTS FOR BARDOT

Bridget Bardot, once the most beautiful women in the world, now is tirelessly fighting for Baby and Nepal - two former circus elephants suspected of carrying tuberculosis. Madame Bardot even threatened to apply for Russian citizenship if French authorities stuck to their decision to euthanize the elephants.

Baby and Nepal were quarantined together with another elephant Java. When Java died in August 2012, after the autopsy was found that he was carrying the Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain. If such case is reported in a wild animal living in captivity, authorities face a regulatory vacuum and are free to decide whether the case requires quarantine, treatment or euthanasia.

UPDATE: BARDOT SAVED BABY AND NEPAL, 42 and 43 years-old female Asian elephants!

In February, France's Council of State granted a reprieve for Baby and Nepal, to the delight of Brigitte Bardot and many animal advocates. Bardot asked to put them into the care of her animal welfare Foundation. “They are old ladies” - she said. “Now we have to find for them a suitable place and leave them in peace.”
Baby and Nepal can live in a quarantine park, where they can be treated without risk of contamination with other animals or people.

It is Vladimir Putin's loss, as Bardot will be staying in her home country, along with the two beloved ladies, Baby and Nepal.
